Winter Swim Information: 2008-2009 Season

Hopefully everyone is well rested after a great 2008 summer swim season and are getting ready for school. It is hard to believe that it is already time to register for the 2008-2009 Breaker Winter Swim season.

Our coaches this year will be Mary Kate Kenna, Shannon Silsby, and Will Schulte. These individuals are experienced, knowledgeable swimmers who have strong ties to the Brookfield community. We are delighted to have such a solid coaching staff.

Our goals for the winter swim season include:

1. Helping swimmers develop fundamentally sound, legal stroke technique, including starts and flip turns;
2. Helping swimmers build endurance;
3. Having fun and getting to know fellow swim team members.

Due to space constraints and ability levels of swimmers we have found it necessary to limit this program to swimmers through 8th grade. The Winter Swim season will include stroke and turn evaluations for each swimmer. This will allow coaches to identify strengths and weaknesses, and focus on the developmental needs of individual team members.

Please remember this is not swimming lessons. Each child must be able to swim freestyle across the pool.

The Breakers will be swimming at Oak Marr RECenter on Sundays from 6:00 to 7:00pm (new time and location). The dates are as follows:

October 5, 19, 26 February 1, 8, 22
November 9, 16 March 1, 8, 15, 22,
December 7, 14, 21 April 19, 26
January 11, 18 May 3, 10

The cost of this program is dependent on the number of swimmers who register. This program is limited to 30 swimmers only. Placement into the program will be on a “first come first served” basis. Based on previous participation, fees will be $125 for 1 swimmer, $225 for 2 swimmers and $325 for 3 or more swimmers.

Swim, please fill out the registration form and mail it and your money to Kathy Richter at 4800 Autumn Glory Way, Chantilly, VA 20151. Checks should be made out to Brookfield Swim Club. You will not be confirmed until payment is received.
